Standing with the Lawrence Family and All Affected by the Central Texas Flooding

Our hearts are with our beloved Dave Lawrence, his wife Bobbie, and their entire family during this heartbreaking time. We mourn the tragic loss of their beloved granddaughters, Hanna and Rebecca, who were taken in the recent Central Texas flooding at Camp Mystic.

We also remember and honor all the lives lost in this devastating flood. The entire Mosaic Miami community stands together in grief, offering strength, love, and support to all those affected.

May the memories of Hanna, Rebecca, and all who were lost be a source of comfort and blessing to their families.

On June 19, 1865, more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation, freedom finally reached the last enslaved people in Galveston, Texas. Juneteenth marks that delayed justice and the ongoing work of building a freer, more honest society.

But freedom isn’t just physical. It’s the ability to think clearly, speak honestly, and stay informed.

At Mosaic Miami, we believe in building a Village Square where people come together to ask real questions, challenge old assumptions, and share truth even when it’s uncomfortable.

As we honor Juneteenth, we revisit Bulldozing Barriers, our special Can We Talk?. The conversations we captured reflect a deeper kind of freedom one we don’t have to wait for a holiday to claim.

Freedom grows when we talk to each other. When we listen. When we learn.

Mosaic Miami Partners to Showcase Bahamian Heritage Through Community Photography

We’re proud to partner with Sanctuary of the Arts, the AADS at FIU: African and African Diaspora Studies, and The Humanities Edge Florida International University for the exhibition, Documenting Goombay and Little Bahamas.

At the recent opening, our Executive Director, Matthew Anderson, gave remarks on the importance of Mosaic Miami’s event partnership and significance of the Goombay Festival in Miami.

The exhibition showcases images of the historically Bahamian community of Coconut Grove and Coral Gables captured by volunteer photographers at the 2024 Goombay Festival and during a neighborhood photo walk in January of this year.

Celebrating 2025 Silver Medallion Honoree Fr. Guillermo M. García-Tuñón

Affectionately known as Father Willie, he is widely respected throughout Miami, especially among fellow Catholics, currently serving as the President of Belen Jesuit Preparatory School.

As Father Willie himself puts it, “We are in the business of providing the world and the Church with better men.” His passion for building future leaders — grounded in faith, integrity, and service — burns brighter than ever. And while the world may present challenges and uncertainty, Father Willy continues to remind his students that the values instilled at Belen are not negotiable: truth, service, and a life lived for others.

His legacy extends beyond the walls of Belen. His vision for Catholic education, his steadfast faith, and his commitment to forming compassionate leaders embody the very essence of humanitarian service.
