Patrick Morris Inspires at Mosaic Miami’s Emerging Leaders Dinner

Our latest Emerging Leaders Dinner featured a powerful and heartfelt conversation with guest speaker Patrick Morris, Director of Civic & Philanthropic Partnerships for the Miami-Dade County Office of the Mayor.

Pat got vulnerable, sharing personal life stories that reminded us how real leadership begins with empathy and self-awareness. He encouraged our Emerging Leaders to give back and get involved — two incredible ways to connect with others, strengthen community ties, and grow as individuals.

He also shared a thoughtful book recommendation: How to Know a Person by David Brooks: a reflection on what it truly means to understand and see others deeply.

We’re so grateful to Pat and everyone who joined us for this evening of reflection, connection, and leadership in action.

Dear Friends,

As we look back on the past few months, I am struck by how powerfully our community continues to live out Mosaic Miami’s mission, connecting across difference, cultivating emerging leaders, and finding common ground through dialogue, service, and shared purpose.

From our ongoing work with faith leaders and educators to the inspiring voices shaping Miami’s next generation, this season has been a reminder that progress happens when people come together with courage and curiosity. The stories below capture just a glimpse of that momentum, the conversations, partnerships, and celebrations that make our mosaic so vibrant.

As we look ahead to November, Give Miami Day offers a moment for all of us to reaffirm that commitment. It is not just an opportunity to sustain Mosaic Miami’s work, it is a day for our entire philanthropic community to show up for the city we love. We are especially grateful to our Silver Medallion honoree Rebecca Fishman Lipsey and her team at The Miami Foundation for their visionary leadership and for inspiring Miamians to invest in our shared future. Every gift, no matter the size, helps strengthen Miami’s civic fabric and ensures that empathy, leadership, and connection continue to flourish here.

Thank you for being part of this work, for showing up, and for believing in the power of empathy to transform communities.

With gratitude,

Matthew S. Anderson

Executive Director, Mosaic Miami
