Matthew Anderson Leads Mosaic Miami’s Mission to Foster Unity

Mosaic Miami is proud to highlight the impactful leadership of our Executive Director, Matthew Anderson, in our ongoing efforts to bridge divides within the community. With a rich background spanning both the private sector and non-profit organizations, Matthew has been instrumental in designing, funding, and implementing programs that uphold Miami as a beacon of opportunity for all.

Before stepping into his current role, Matthew served as the chair of Mosaic Miami’s board. His dedication to community service is further exemplified by his involvement with esteemed organizations such as United Way, the Ayiti Community Trust, Seraphic Fire, the Foundation for New Education Initiatives, and the Miami Jewish Health Foundation.

Matthew’s commitment and contributions have been recognized through various accolades, including Florida International University’s Center for Leadership’s 2017 Emerging Leader Award, The Education Fund Public School Achievement Award, and the Haitian Chamber of Commerce Top 20 Under 40. His leadership roles extend to co-chairing United Way Young Leaders and founding the Beacon Council’s New Leader’s Taskforce.

Under Matthew’s guidance, Mosaic Miami continues to champion initiatives that promote inclusivity and reduce divisiveness, reinforcing our dedication to a united and thriving Miami community.

A Brave Space: Humanizing One Another in the Context of Israel and Palestine

A Brave Space: Through a series of conversations, we attempted to bring together people in Miami – who hold differing views about Israel-Palestine – for dialogue, learning and relationship-building. We did not aim to resolve the question of Israel-Palestine. Instead, we aimed to listen to one another’s stories and expand our individual perspectives to be more inclusive of other narratives. Our ultimate hope was to humanize one another and further our individual and collective capacity to respect and uplift one another.

Highlight on this month’s Break the Bias: Elevating Voices

Mosaic Miami and Temple Beth Am’s unBIASed initiative and Youth Engagement Religious School (YERS),  recently held Break the Bias: Elevating Voices, a program featuring the voices of high school students from across Miami representing different faiths and identities.

Following a panel discussion between past Mosaic Miami Metrotown Delegates, high school students from public and private schools across South Florida took part in small group dialogues in which they explored and reflected on antisemitism, islamophobia, racism, and other forms of bias and how we can collectively create an inclusive community that dignifies all identities.
