Mosaic Youth Institutes
Elevating Community Treasure Through Immersive Engagement
The Mosaic Youth Institutes provide meaningful opportunities for young people—especially Camp MetroTown alumni—to explore the South Florida community’s cultural heritage, history, and leadership. These institutes offer immersive experiences that delve into the Cuban diaspora’s influence on Miami and the Black diaspora, including Haitian, Bahamian, Jamaican, and African-American communities. In collaboration with the Holocaust Memorial Museum and local religious leaders, students also examine the complexities of anti-Semitism, Islam, and the Israel-Palestine conflict. Additionally, participants engage in intergenerational dialogues, learning from community leaders’ lived experiences and wisdom across generations.
Through these exchanges, students broaden their understanding of diverse perspectives and cultivate the essential skills needed to lead across differences. By equipping youth with the ability to navigate complex social dynamics, the Mosaic Youth Institutes foster sustainable growth and empower future leaders to contribute meaningfully to an inclusive and thriving Miami.
