The Day of Dialogue is run out of the CRECER (Challenging Racism and Empowering Communities through Ethnocultural Research) team at the University of Miami School of Education and Human Development. This annual event provides community leaders and CRECER partners a space to identify the needs of the community and develop strategies to address them. Days of Dialogue have been conducted with community members throughout Miami-Dade since 2008, and continue to result in the production of concrete plans in which action can be taken at various levels throughout communities. MCCJ has participating as a member of the planning team since 2010. Previous themes have included the state of Blacks in Miami, American Indian students at UM, Building Bridges across Cultures, and Engaging Miami while building trust.
The 2011 Day of Dialogue, Imagine an Engaged Miami: Accepting Differences, Building Trust took place at the UM Wesley Foundation College of Arts and Sciences Gallery and Conference Center on December 3, 2011.
The 2014 Day of Dialogue, Race: Are We So Different? An Intergenerational Dialogue About Race took place at the Phillip & Patricia Frost Museum of Science on January 20, 2014.
The 2017 Day of Dialogue, Let’s Talk Race Relations took place at the Miami Beach Community Church on March 24, 2017.
